I Stand with Miss America

In light of the email scandal that exposed more of the underbelly of our society, this excerpt from the conclusion of my book No Crown Required, Raising a Confident, Courageous and Compassionate Daughter, coming out in the spring of 2018, sends chills down my spine:

The Miss America Pageant started out as a swimsuit beauty contest on the boardwalk of a town desperately needing to attract tourist dollars. Because of the amazing young women who braved that runway over the years, it has evolved into so much more.  I’m sure they didn’t see that one coming.  And yes, they have a long way to go.  I believe they will get there. After all, they are dealing with women.  Intelligent, heart-centered women of purpose who see it as a platform or vehicle to effect change and heal what is wounded in the world.

We are the self-realized healers, teachers, protectors, guardians and fighters. We are the game changers raising new world leaders.

I stand with “her”.  I stand with all women and men who are brave enough to speak out and stand up for decency, honor and compassion in this world.

I stand with Miss America.
